Congress or BJP, whose Manjula is she?

Bengaluru: A day after the massive voter ID scandal rocked the state with nearly 10,000 Election Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) being seized from an apartment in Jalahalli, the police detained several people on charges of collecting voter IDs from the public by promising them money and are questioning them.

A political slugfest has started with the Congress alleging that the apartment belonged to a former BJP corporator Manjula Nanjamari.  While BJP claimed she was with the Congress, Manjula was not available for comment. But her son Sreedhar Nanjamari cleared the air about the apartment  from where the voter IDs were seized. “A year ago, Rangaraju and his sister Rekha had rented a flat at the SLV Park View Apartment. They were staying together but last month, Rangaraju approached us asking for a separate flat for Rekha. Flat no. 115 was empty which we rented to Rekha,” Sreedhar said. Sreedhar who was summoned by the Jalahalli police for questioning, told police that neither he nor his mother visited the flat after renting it.

BJP: Countermand RR Nagar election
The BJP has demanded the countermanding of  the Rajarajeshwarinagar Assembly polls after about 10,000 EPIC cards were found in an apartment situated at Jalahalli on Tuesday.  BJP Karnataka election in-charge and Union Minister for HRD, Prakash Javadekar and Union Minister for Planning and Programme Implementation, D.V. Sadananda Gowda,  said Wednesday that since the incident was grave in nature and had become a threat to free and fair elections, the Election Commission must countermand the polls.
