First time, transgender becomes RJ in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: For the first time in the history of coastal Karnataka a transgender has become a radio jockey.
Kajal, hailing from Mandya is currently residing in Brahmavar over last 9 years. A successful dancer, beautician and artist, now Kajal has been offered the role of radio jockey by Radio Sarang 107.8 FM based in Mangaluru.Kajal has completed her PUC and presently she is pursuing graduation through distance education. She has a dream to become a successful IAS officer too.
Dr Melwyn Pinto, director of Radio Sarang, said, "We need to provide opportunities to the transgenders. By accepting them, they can exhibit their talents and bring them to the mainstream. It will enable them to lead a normal life like us."
