KSRTC introduces new BS-4 compliant Volvo buses ahead of Dasara

Mysuru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) announced the introduction of 23 new BS-4 compliant Volvo buses to its fleet and became the first state owned corporation to do so in the entire country.

Another 121 (Volvo BS-4 engine) buses will be added by December, revealed Transport Minister H M Revanna.Speaking to media, the minister said that the tender process was completed during Ramalinga Reddy’s tenure as transport minister.He said that KSRTC was the first public transport company in the country to launch Volvo BS-4 engine bus services.KSRTC plans to operate 8 buses each from Bangalore Central and Mysore division and 7 buses from Mangalore division to facilitate tourists visiting the state during Dasara.

The buses will operate between Bangalore- Kozhikode, Bangalore-Chennai, Bangalore-Vijayawada, Bangalore-Sriharikota, Mangalore-Bangalore-Manipal, Mangalore-Bangalore, Mangalore-Mumbai, Virajpet-Bangalore, Madikeri-Bangalore and Mysore-Bangalore routes. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah flagged off the new buses and released a handbook showcasing KSRTC’s achievements in the last four years.
