Drought study tour : BJP’s Yatra in Dharwad district begins from today
Hubballi: The BJP team led by its State President B S Yeddyurappa will embark on a drought study tour in Dharwad district from May 25. As a part of it, party workers' meeting, public meeting and visit of leaders to Dalit houses have been chalked out.
Speaking to reporters here, State BJP Vice President M Nagaraj said a meeting of the party workers would be held at Gokul Garden at 11:30 am on May 25 wherein around 2,000 people are expected to participate.
At 4 pm, Yeddyurappa and other leaders would visit Neersagar tank at Dhumawad in Kalghatagi taluk to study the drought situation. A public meeting has been organised at Narendra in Dharwad taluk at 5:30 pm, he said.
Yeddyurappa and other leaders would have breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner at the residence of Dalits and hold discussions with them and backward community members. BJP leaders Shobha Karandlaje, Govind Karjol and others would be present, he added.
"With the overwhelming response people are showing to our "Janasampark Yatra" through which we are interacting with Dalits and backward communities, the insecure Congress and JD (S) leaders are making false allegations," he alleged.
Reacting to a query, he said Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge "who did nothing for the welfare of Dalits and failed to raise the community's issues in the parliament" in last three years, had no moral right to question the BJP leaders' concern about them, he added.
