Chennai Super Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL 2018 final,MS Dhoni makes history
MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings captain, might be closing in on 37 but the way he has rolled back his years in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2018), it hardly would give any critic a single element of doubt over his capabilities while donning the responsibilities behind the stumps. On Sunday too in the IPL 2018 final, MS Dhoni produced a moment of magic as he sent back Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson when the latter stepped out to try and hit Karn Sharma for a maximum. (CSK vs SRH IPL 2018 FINAL SCORES) The stumping (33) also made him the wicketkeeper with most stumpings in IPL history, going past Kolkata Knight Riders’ Robin Uthappa, who has 32. It wasn’t the best of shots attempted by the well-settled New Zealander, who had managed to keep his composure throughout the innings. But batting on 47 off 35 deliveries, Williamson, who had just hit two consecutive boundaries off Dwayne Bravo in the previous over, stepped out to a delivery that was deliberately tossed wide. Despite stretching to his limit, Williamson failed to connect and an agile Dhoni did the rest.
It was an important breakthrough for Chennai Super Kings as Williamson, then batting with Shakib Al Hasan had been building a solid partnership after openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shreevats Goswami departed for 26 and 5 respectively. Dhoni was responsible for Goswami’s dismissal too with the former India skipper cleanly taking the bails off after a near-perfect throw from Karn had left the batsman short of his crease. With 455 runs to his name in IPL 2018, including those crucial match-winning knocks, Dhoni has been applauded this season for his heroics with the bat coming lower down the order and the 14 dismissals that he has effected which has helped Chennai Super Kings reach another final, which they eventually won by eight wickets.
