Shivpal Yadav : Will form a secular front, if Akhilesh does not quit as party president
KANPUR: Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav has threatened to form a secular front if Akhilesh Yadav did not hand over the party's command to Mulayam Singh Yadav.
"He (Akhilesh) had given three months time, and now I am giving him three months time. Either, he should step down as party president, or I will form a secular front," Shivpal said on Wednesday.
Also, without taking any name, Shivpal lashed out at his
cousin Ram Gopal describing him as `Shakuni- Mama' (maternal uncle), suggesting
him to first read the Gita. "What he (Ram Gopal Yadav) has done, only
`Shakuni- Mama' can do, it's my request to him to read Gita first."
On Wednesday too, prior to making an anouncment of forming a secular front, he
had demanded that Akhilesh Yadav step down from the post on moral grounds.
"He should hand over the post to `netaji' (Mulayam Singh Yadav) so that
once again we should unite, proceed further and work for the betterment of the
party," he said.
On Sunday Ram Gopal Yadav had slammed Shivpal saying that it seems that he has not read party's constitution and does'nt even know about it's functioning.
Shivpal, meanwhile, also criticised the Tuesday incident wherein a bus driver of a private school was beaten black and blue by police personnel inside Vaidpura police station following which he had to stage a dharna.
Shivpal however also praised BJP chief minister Yogi Adityanath describing him as a person with strong will power, but at the same time he said, his (Yogi's) officers are working against his will and behaving like goons thus bringing the government to disrepute. "I will demand chief minister to take stern action against such guilty officers, who are working against his will," said Shivpal Yadav.
