The AIADMK removed jailed general secretary VK Sasikala on Tuesday from all party positions, potentially ending a protracted feud for control of Tamil Nadu’s ruling party that roiled one of India’s richest states.

At a general council meeting in Chennai headed by deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam and chief minister Edapaddi Palaniswami, the AIADMK passed resolutions removing Sasikala, who is in jail for corruption, and her nephew TTV Dinakaran, from all party positions.

But the drama might not be over as Dinakaran is said to have the support of 18 MLAs -- more than enough to topple the government in an assembly floor test.

At present, 15 MLAs are camping at a resort in Karnataka and three MLAs in Bengaluru to try and meet Sasikala to decide on a future course of action. However, sources indicated that the jail manual was coming in the way as Sasikala apparently exhausted all her meetings allowed for his fortnight.
