Akshay Kumar's Padman leads over new Tamil and Telugu releases

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's Padman is all set to open on a good note at the Chennai Box Office. The film, directed by R Balki is based on the life of Arunachalam Murugunathan, a social entrepreneur from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Padman also marks the maiden production venture of actress-turned-writer and Akshay Kumar's wife Twinkle Khanna and stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in female lead roles.

According to the Chennai Box Office advance booking report, Padman is leading over all the new South releases, which are scheduled to be released on Friday. Four major South films, including Tamil film Kalakalappu 2 and Telugu films Gayatri, Inttelligent and Tholi Prema are also scheduled to be released on Friday, but the Akshay Kumar starrer has beaten all the films as far as Chennai advance booking report is concerned. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar will be looking for another Rs. 100 crore hit with Padman. The national award winner's previous five films were clean super hits and Rs. 100 crore grossers at the Box Office.
