The Kerala High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail petition of Malayalam actor Dileep accused in an abduction and molestation case. This is the third time that the court has rejected Dileep's bail plea.

The actor has spent more than 50 days in the Aluva sub-jail after he was arrested in July for his alleged role in an actress molestation case in February earlier this year. Last week, the Angamaly court had extended Dileep's judicial custody till September 2.

The High court on July 24 had rejected his bail petition considering that crucial evidence like the mobile phone used to shoot the attack on the actress was yet to be traced. The court, in the first week of August, had once again rejected Dileep's plea for bail.

In a fresh petition before the Kerala High Court, Dileep had rejected allegations of him being the key conspirator in the case. Dileep's advocates made a submission that claimed that the actor was neither the kingpin nor a participant in the crime. Dileep also claimed that he does not know the key accused in the case, Pulsar Suni. He has alleged a conspiracy against him by some people from the Malayalam film industry.

The Dileep was named an accused in the actress molestation case after the investigating authorities claimed that he had hired prime accused Pulsar Suni to assault the actress. Dileep has changed his advocates twice already and a fresh bail petition was filed through his new counsel Advocate Raman Pillai. Arguments for the bail petition went on for two days before the court rejected the same.

Dileep's advocate argued that the memory card in which the visuals of the attack are purportedly saved had been recovered by the police. He questioned the basis on which Dileep was being held in custody and told the court that the police had admitted that the mobile phone which was used to record the act was destroyed.
