‘Toilet:Ek Prem Katha’ box office: Akshay Kumar earns Rs 13.10 crore on first day
Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha made an above average debut at the box office on the first day of its release, collecting Rs 13.10 crore. Released across 3200 screens all over the India, the numbers are expected to rise with the extended Independence Day weekend coming up.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#ToiletEkPremKatha Fri Rs 13.10 cr. India biz... Sat and Sun look better... Biz to get big boost on Tue [Independence Day]... #TEPK. #ToiletEkPremKatha picked up rapidly post noon onwards... Mass circuits have performed the best... Plexes decent/good... #TEPK.”
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is the story of a man whose wife leaves him after discovering there is no toilet in his house. The protagonist then sets out on a mission to win her back by building toilets in his village.
Made at an estimated budget of Rs 18 crore, Toilet Ek Prem Katha also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Anupam Kher. Shree Narayan Singh makes his directorial debut with the film.
