Air India Express flight skids off taxiway in Kochi, all safe

A Kochi bound Air India Express flight from Abu Dhabi which landed at 2.40 am skidded off the taxiway while approaching the apron. All 102 passengers on board were safely evacuated from the aircraft.
According to CIAL PRO, Air India Express flight (IX 452) from Abu Dhabi to Kochi touched down at 2.39 am. After landing the aircraft was heading towards the apron area through the taxiway. However, before approaching the link between taxiway and apron, the aircraft took a turn leaving the rear wheels in a drain duct. According to sources, both engine turbines have been damaged.
Immediately after the incident, ground handling staff evacuated all passengers safely with the help of a ladder. Since the incident took place away from the runway, other services were not affected.Since the luggage carrier was damaged passengers left without their check in baggage.
Air India Express authorities have assured passengers that the luggage will be delivered to their respective addresses at the earliest.The aircraft is still at the accident site and will be recovered after and inspection Air India Express safety officials who will reach Kochi in the afternoon. The Director General of Civil Aviation has initiated a probe into the incident.
