BJP releases charge-sheet against Congress government

Bengaluru: Congress government in Karnataka, led by Siddaramaiah, has failed in all fronts, said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president B S Yeddyurappa on Thursday.
"Congress govt. in K'taka is a total failure in implementing welfare schemes. It did nothing to mitigate farmers' problems in drought-affected areas in the state,'' Yeddyurappa said.
"Siddaramaiah undertook a padayatra from Bengaluru to
Ballari while he was the Leader of Opposition. He promised to ensure
transparency in governance if Congress elected to power but he did nothing to
wipe out corruption,'' Yeddyurappa said.
"The state government failed to release funds for irrigation projects. The
government allocated Rs 41,439 crore for irrigation projects but spent only Rs
32,326 crore during the last four years,'' Leader of Opposition Jagadish
Shettar said.
"In Bengaluru alone 1,24,655 criminal cases were registered in four years. Women are not safe in Bengaluru. In four years, 10,589 incidents of sexual harassment, murder, robbery, chain-snatching and dowry harassment against women were reported,'' he said.
"Karnataka is 2nd state in the country in number of farmers' suicides. In four years, 2,573 farmers committed suicide due to crop failure and inability to repay crop loans availed from money lenders and financial institutions,'' he said.
