High Court issues notice to govt., BWSSB, and 2 other agencies
BENGALURU: A division bench of the Karnataka High Court headed by Chief Justice Subhro kamal Mukherjee on Monday ordered notices to the government, the BWSSB and both the state and central pollution control boards in a PIL filed by Federation of Apartment Associations, Bengaluru.
The petitioners have challenged the BWSSB notification mandating installation of sewage treatment plant (STP) in apartments having more than 20 units and hefty fine for violators.
"All apartments with more than 20 flat units were constructed as per rules laid down by the law, and each apartment has already left free space around the building as per law. The strict implementation of the notification issued by authorities will result in serious violation of building construction rules laid down by urban development authorities," the petitioners have stated, while asserting that there's no space around these apartments which were built in accordance with existing rules.
