IISc Bangalore ranked best Indian university

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has been named the best university in India in a latest ranking of educational institutions released by the central government here on April 3.

Delhi's Miranda House was ranked the best college in the country, Chennai's Loyola College second and Sri Ram College third. IIT-Madras is the top engineering school while Jamia Hamdard was adjudged the best pharmacy institute.

Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), was declared the second best university, while Benares Hindu University (BHU) came third. IIM, Ahmedabad was ranked as the best management college in India. these apart, seven IITs have been ranked among the top 10 institutions in the country.
