The government of Karnataka and Karnataka State Transport Department have decided to launch the initiative - 'Less Traffic Day'. This day will be observed on second Sundays of every month, starting 11th February.

Transport Minister HM Revanna requested Bengalureans to support the less traffic day on 2nd Sunday of every month by using the public transportation and start the awareness about pollution and support the initiative taken by the government of Karnataka. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the function on Sunday.

The event will also have a jingle penned by Kannada director and lyricist Yograj Bhat to create awareness about it.The BMRCL and BMTC will offer discounts on fares on 'Less Traffic Day'. A release from BMRCL states that commuters using smart cards will get a discount of 25% instead of the current discount of 15 per cent for journeys on Sunday. The less traffic day concept is perhaps a second such campaign in the city after 'Bus Day', which was initiated under the BJP regime.
