BMRCL to extend purple line timing till 11 pm

Bengaluru: The BMRCL, which will throw green line operational from June 18 is all set to expand the purple line timings till 11 pm in the night. Presently, last metro train on this route is operated at 10 pm.

According to the sources, presently as per the request of various industrial units near Peenya, green line metro service has been scheduled between 5 am and 11 pm. But the purple line is operated between 6 am and 10 pm. To ensure that there will not be any inconvenience for commuters, the Corporation is considering extension of the purple line service by two hours.

According to the BMRCL officials, metro service on green line will conclude at 11.45 pm at Yelachenahalli station. "Last train on green line will depart the Nagasandra station at 11 pm. It needs 45 minutes to reach Yelachenahalli.

We can't stop this last train as thousands of commuters from Peenya use this train to reach their homes. To ensure that those who use this train will also get purple line connectivity, it is decided to extend the purple line timings too," explained an officer.

Meanwhile, state government has decided to use the services of Karnataka Industrial Security Force personnel to guard the metro stations. As many as 100 personnel of the force will be utilised for this task.
